The Queen Rania Foundation for Education and Development (QRF) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Expedia Group as part of their efforts to improve and develop education in Jordan and the region. The memorandum was signed by Mr. Bassem Saad, CEO of QRF and Ms. Katherine Cheng, Senior Director of Corporate Social Responsibility, Expedia Group.

In line with Expedia Group’s mission to bring the world within reach, an important part of this is committing support to the communities around its offices on a variety of efforts that enable the company to utilize its resources and talent as a force for good.

As part of this new collaboration, employees from the Amman office will have the opportunity to work with the Queen Rania Foundation to help the launch of the Karim and Jana - Our World mobile application which aims to promote the development of social skills in young children and increase their school readiness, while also raising parents’ awareness of their children’s socio-emotional development. Through a series of stories, songs and games specifically designed for children between the ages of three and six.

Support from Expedia Group will also be granted to Madrasati’s Volunteering Program “Masahati Student Clubs” which was launched in 2008 and was able to reach 600 volunteers. The program develops youth’s intellectual and technical skills and seeks to empower students to manage their own spaces, as well as provide a link between schools and their communities.

During the signing, Mr. Saad emphasized on the importance of capitalizing on joint expertise and collaboration in order to address the education crisis; recognizing the scale of the education challenge facing the region and the need to reimagine education collaboratively and coherently.
