(Office of Her Majesty – Press Department – Amman) – Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah chaired a meeting of the Board of Directors of the Queen Rania Foundation for Education and Development (QRF) on Monday. The meeting discussed QRF’s recent focus on improving learning outcomes for children in Jordan.

Her Majesty was presented with Edraak’s latest milestones. The massive open online course platform has garnered one million registered learners from the Arab world, and is currently offering over 58 free online courses in the fields of science, technology, engineering, mathematics, entrepreneurship, parenting, employability skills and education among others.

QRF CEO Ms. Haifa Dia Al-Attia discussed the foundation’s progress in its mission to improve literacy, numeracy, and socioemotional skills for children between the ages of 3 and 15.

Ms. Al-Attia particularly focused on QRF’s development of some strong candidate pilot programs this year that target teaching methods, leadership and school culture, classroom-based assessments, technology in education, parental awareness, attitudes and practices related to learning in early years, and the reverse gender achievement gap.

The board also discussed the imminent launch of an interactive application for children between the ages of 4 and 6 as a pilot project in May 2017, whose impact on literacy, numeracy, and socioemotional learning will be evaluated.

Her Majesty also listened to QRF’s latest updates on its efforts to evaluate the impact of all its interventions on literacy, numeracy, and socioemotional learning, and their relevance to the foundation’s aim to feed into the larger circle of education reform, centering on quality education in Jordan.
